That was awesome. Just this afternoon I was arguing with myself over dragging a preposition back from the brink on a written statement. My inner language demons made me swap "the area they traveled to" for "the area to which they traveled", even though it made me feel soullessly bureaucratic.
Beautifully argued defense of living language. The descriptive linguist in me is singing.
